1. Chesney annoys Gemma
When Joseph tells Gemma he is not feeling well, Gemma downplays the incident; The last time the teenager said he felt sick, he overreacted.
Chesney later receives a call asking him to pick Joseph up from school and lashes out at Gemma for not realizing Joseph was sick.
Hurt by Chesney’s suggestion that she is not coping, Gemma storms out.
2. Joseph is hospitalized
When Joseph’s condition does not improve, Chesney becomes concerned and Bernie advises Gemma to make Joseph some lavender tea to help him feel better.
Later, Chesney is horrified when Joseph collapses and the worried father calls an ambulance.
At the hospital, Chesney and Gemma receive worrying news that Joseph has been poisoned.
3. Gemma is accused of poisoning Joseph
While Gemma and the extended family celebrate at an early Christmas lunch, the day is ruined when Chesney and Joseph return from hospital with child protection worker Caitlin.
Gemma is stunned when Caitlin interviews her about Joseph’s illness, suggesting that Gemma may have poisoned him on purpose.
4. Ed grows desperate to pay off his debts
Grandpa Sergeant arrives early to celebrate the festive season, and Ed masks his panic when Ronnie says he and Ed are going to treat the family to a big meal at the Bistro. Resorting to desperate measures, Ed takes out a payday loan and gambles all the money on a race.
At the Bistro, Ed keeps one eye on the race results while Sarge criticizes Ed’s lack of business skills.
Dee-Dee tells Joel that the family said Ed hid his gambling addiction from the Sergeant and lost the house after a bad business decision.
5. Ed tells Tony the truth
When the horse loses the race, Ed is devastated and realizes he’s lost even more money. Ronnie pays the dinner bill and tells Ed to pay him back later.
As Tony pressures him for money, Ed is left with no choice but to reveal everything to Tony and admits that he lost all his money to his gambling addiction. Ed begs Tony to keep quiet, but will he keep Ed’s secret?
6. The sergeant makes a confession
As his debts mount, Ed faces a new source of concern when the Sergeant admits his business is struggling and he needs to borrow £2,000 to make ends meet.
Ed has to bite his tongue when Ronnie assures Sarge that he and Ed can lend him the money he needs.
7. Shona has doubts about Lauren
At the cafe, Shona calls out Lauren about staying glued to her phone and is later shocked to catch Lauren at the police station instead of her call center job. Lauren has to hide it by saying she’s changing shifts.
Meanwhile, Max is surprised when Lauren gifts him an expensive watch as a thank you for supporting him. Although impressed by the gesture, he insists it’s too much, but Lauren says she can afford it since she was given a promotion at the call center.
8. Lauren is accused of theft
Sabrina is less than impressed when she finds out about Lauren’s gift and makes it clear to Lauren that she needs to stop playing games.
Max returns the watch to Lauren and explains that she was being very generous. Shona overhears these conversations and becomes even more curious about Lauren’s financial situation.
When Bernie shares the news that the cafe’s till is down £80, Shona jumps to conclusions. Shona accuses Lauren of stealing from the safe and sends her away, but Lauren tells her she has a rich boyfriend and doesn’t need the job anymore.
9. George reaches out to Liam
Still struggling with his bullying ordeal, Liam tries to deceive the patient, but Maria refuses to fall for it.
At school, Miss Crawshaw overhears Liam talking about stolen e-cigarettes and orders Dylan to go to his office.
Later in the week, George notices signs that Liam is being bullied at school and reaches out to the troubled teenager by telling him about his own experiences. Will Liam trust George?
10. Nina struggles with her jealousy
Asha tells Nina they should spend a night together, but Nina reveals she’s making plans to meet up with friends. However, when Asha insists that Nina not cancel her plans, Nina becomes disappointed and hooks up with Isla instead.
On Aadi’s advice, Nina and Asha decide to get to know each other’s friends better and Asha organizes lunch with Nina, Isla and her senior colleague Miles.
Nina arrives for lunch and overhears Asha praising her as a budding fashion designer to her friends.
11. Ryan gets a job offer
Having reconnected with Crystal in recent weeks, Ryan is delighted to receive an invitation to join her at a new bar in town.
The good news doesn’t end there; Ryan then gets a call offering him a new job. Ryan is surprised by the offer and tries to hide in front of Leanne.
