Katy Lubin, Lyst’s vice president of brand and communications, says the company is able to pull information about trending topics because it creates the largest data set in fashion, “and we’re constantly crunching and analyzing that shopping data to provide insights that tell stories about what the world wants to wear.”

This annual report offers the opportunity to “pause and reflect on the moods, movements and moments that have shaped the last 12 months in fashion and the milestones that truly cut through the noise and resonate with fashion lovers” in a fast-paced trend cycle.

“To compile this report, we dive deep into our Lyst shopping data, as well as culture and category to contextualize key moments,” he said.

Compared to the 2022 report, Lubin said some forces remain strong.

“Luxury monobrands still drive the global style agenda; Miu Miu chooses the brand of the year for the second time in a row. K-pop stars continue to influence fashion searches, and famous fashion icons like Rihanna have secured their position as trendsetters by transcending seasonal changes. “But among this year’s buzzworthy products and viral moments, the data also revealed the power of fashion’s wearable, accessible new everyday heroes,” he added.
