First Lady Jill Biden
The first couple welcomed Kenyan First Lady Rachel Ruto and Kenyan President William Ruto on the steps of the White House. For the occasion, Jill Biden designed a sparkling sapphire column gown by Sergio Hudson that featured hand-embroidered elements and embellishments such as sequins, crystals and bugle beads.
Vice President Kamala Harris
Harris embraced a dramatic cape look in a custom dark green maxi-column dress with a train and a plunging back cape jacket, adorned with a gold floral brooch by Chloé. The look was designed by Chloé’s creative director, Chemena Kamali.
Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton
Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wore an ornately detailed kaftan to the White House State Dinner for Kenya. Clinton had previously created a similar silhouette for the Japan State Dinner held at the White House in April.
Natalie Biden
Natalie Biden, granddaughter of the President and First Lady, wore this chic and elegant white, long-sleeved dress with intricate beading details on the neckline to the White House State Dinner for Kenya.

Former Hillary Clinton campaign staffer Huma Abedin opts for a simple look in this black, sleeveless column dress with flowing fabric detailing at the neckline.
Sean Penn
Sean Penn wore a classic black suit with a white button-down shirt and black tie. He was joined by Ann Lee, co-founder and chief executive officer of Penn’s Community Organized Relief Efforts charity.

The White House State Dinner for Kenya follows the first couple’s White House State Dinner for Japan in April. The Kenyan State Dinner featured early summer-themed décor, with various floral arrangements and vibrant colors adorning the White House. Curated by executive chef Cris Comerford, menu items included lobster, smoked short ribs and a housemade white chocolate basket. Musician Brad Paisley performed at the evening’s ceremony.
