Much of England and Wales is facing further wet conditions on Monday as many counties received more than 250% of their average September rainfall.

The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for rain covering much of the Midlands, the north of the country and North Wales.

In addition, there are more than 40 flood warnings, meaning flooding is expected, and more than 100 flood warnings, meaning it is likely, in the Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Reading and South West areas, according to the Environment Agency. All were impressed.

Six English counties, including Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, received record rainfall in September, the Met Office said.

The Met Office is forecasting 60 to 80mm of rainfall in parts of eastern England in its wet weather warning from Monday to Tuesday morning.

One of the yellow warnings, which means the possibility of flooding and travel disruption, will be in force until 8pm on Monday and covers parts of Wales, including Wrexham, and the West Midlands, including Stoke-on-Trent and Liverpool. Manchester is in the North West.

But he warned the weekend could bring wetter and windier conditions.

“Saturday looks likely to be a more unstable day with wind and rain across much of the UK,” he said.
