Identical twin has two hair transplants so his hairline matches his sister’s – and it costs £5.5k
A woman who wanted to have the same “perfect” hairline as her identical twin sister spent £5,500 on TWO life-changing hair transplants. Rebecca Chadwick, 29, went ahead with procedures to help boost her confidence after comparing her receding hairline to her sister’s. She first noticed the difference when she was 18, when she began to notice subtle differences between herself and her sister. After much research, she had her first hair transplant in January 2016 to “round” her hairline. She followed this with another procedure in March 2022 to give herself a proper widow look. The consultant is now speaking out to educate people, “change the narrative” about the cosmetic procedure and normalize it for women. Consultant Rebecca, from Derby, said: “There was something about my face that I was having trouble with. “I have an identical twin sister and her features are very symmetrical but mine looked like they weren’t shaped properly. “I started to focus excessively on my appearance and that was all I could see when I looked in the mirror. “When I entered my twenties I started focusing more on my appearance to increase my self-confidence. “I came across a random post on Instagram from someone who had a hair transplant. “I looked into Turkey as an option, but their method was more outdated and invasive. “In my research, I found that clinics in the UK make it look more natural. “I did a lot of research because it is more common in men.” “I want to have another hair transplant because you don’t get the fullness. “I’m not trying to look like my sister, but she is a reflection of me.” she was insecure. “I am now, and I attribute that to the fact that I spend money on my appearance. ”At first my sister was like everyone else and thought it was such a big deal. “But now that I’ve shown her my before and after photos, Rebecca began looking into hair transplants “seriously” in 2016, when she was just 22, after noticing the difference between her and her sister as a teenager and then noticing her receding hairline. She went abroad and eventually went for her surgery in Lenton, Nottingham.” She checked into a clinic. Rebecca sent photos of her hairline before booking a consultation in December 2015. “I pay monthly,” she explained. “I’m still paying now, I have two years’ payments left. “A good surgeon will always tell you about the risks, but the real complication is the risk of infection or the body rejecting your own hair and the hair not being removed or growing back, but this is very rare.” We talked about my expectations and whether they were realistic or not. “Then, if I’m happy to proceed, I can then engage a consultant for the procedure.” Rebecca attended her first hair transplant appointment on January 6, 2016, just a few weeks after her initial consultation. You need to spray your hair when you first get home.” Salt water solution every hour or two for the first week after you get it done. “You have to keep it wet because if it dries out, your hair dries out too. From now on, when you first wash your hair, you should use baby shampoo and pour the water with a glass. “You need to wash it gently for the next two weeks and you can’t go swimming for a month. “I was a little worried about what people would decide because the space I built it in was so small. “I then took some time off from work but came back pretty quickly. “Naturally I told people and they were fine.” About three years after the first transplant, Rebecca noticed there were other differences she wasn’t happy with. “After the first hair, my hair started growing back “I thought, ‘why does this side of my face still not look symmetrical?'” “That’s when I realized my widow’s hair wasn’t shaping properly and needed some filler,” she said. In March 2022, his widow had another surgery at the same clinic, which saw 800 follicles implanted into her vertex – costing £3,000. Rebecca’s last surgery has now grown up to her ear, but not yet tall enough to tuck behind her. “I’m just starting to notice how plump and thick it looks,” she said. “You can tell if you’ve had it done because the back of the hair is thicker than the front. “When you get it done, you can hear them tucking your hair, so it’s a bit gross and it looks like there’s a painful bruise afterwards.” Rebecca’s surgeon said that, as well as trans women, there are many people who don’t like the size of their foreheads. She said the woman also had a hair transplant because it could be a way to fix it. While she shares her hair transplant journey on TikTok, she often reaches out to women saying they “didn’t know it existed”. Rebecca said: “Some people react to it and say ‘you don’t need this.’ or they say ‘there are so many other ways to spend your money’. “That’s what I’ve noticed in office gossip, guys, we talk about it. “When I tell them ‘I actually had one done’ they get really curious. “I love educating people more and changing the narrative. “It’s normal to talk about lip fillers but this isn’t it.” Rebecca encourages other women considering a hair transplant to do the same. She said: “If you’ve done enough research and don’t just go for the cheapest option You can also try different options that suit your budget. My self-confidence has definitely increased, which has allowed me to go for jobs that I wouldn’t have done in the past.” Since affirming my appearance, I’ve found the confidence to be more assertive and stand up for myself. “I want a little more fullness in my hairline, so I’m considering having another hair transplant within the next year.”
