But off the court he is also a Scottish family man and can now spend more time with his wife Kim and their four children. Here’s a look at their exciting new lives.

New life after tennis

Since joining the Olympics at the beginning of August, the Scotsman has been honing his skills on the golf course, aiming to achieve a scratch handicap. She even updated her Twitter profile to reflect the new chapter in her life, changing it from “I play tennis” to “I played tennis. Now I play golf.”

Murray, who now plays on a handicap of seven, made his debut at the prestigious BMW PGA Championship Pro-Am at Wentworth last month before taking part in the inaugural BTJA Mike Dickson Golf Day at Hanbury Manor Golf Club in Hertfordshire.]

The special event was organized by the British Tennis Journalists Association in honor of former Daily Mail journalist Mike Dickson, who died aged 59 in January, and Murray was declared the day’s winner.

Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre played alongside the former tennis player at Wentworth and was impressed by what he saw, saying: “I thought he was good for someone who hasn’t played that much. I was very impressed with his game. He’ll be back to zero in no time.”

Speaking of currently competing in golf tournaments, Murray said: “It’s a different type of nerve because you’re comfortable in the tennis environment. I don’t think I’m going to get on the tennis court and forget how to hit the ball.”

“Whereas here there are people standing five meters away from where I’m driving and I’m thinking I’m useless in this game. Just try to keep the ball in play and don’t make too much of a mess.”

“Obviously I practice a lot more than the average person,” he added. “Obviously I played a little bit when I was younger and if I learn the right lessons and apply the right things, then yeah, I have a chance to do it.”

When asked about his retirement plans earlier this year, Murray said: “I don’t know exactly what the rest of my life will be like, but I’ll still stay in touch with the sport. Initially, I want to be at home with my wife.” My family. “I want to spend more time with my children and my wife, so I won’t be on the road much, I know that.”

“I will be playing a lot of golf,” he added. “I want to be a reset golfer. I have always loved playing golf but I haven’t played for five or six years due to back problems. I would also love to be a part of the next Olympics in some organization. I have the capacity but I don’t have a clear plan of what to do from a business perspective.”

Marriage and abusive outburst with Kim

Murray has been married to Kim Sears, the daughter of tennis coach Nigel Sears, since 2015 and met at a party at the US Open a decade ago.

They were together for nearly nine years before marrying in the tennis star’s hometown of Dunblane. However, their relationship hit an impasse a few years ago when Kim shockingly split after he ‘gained custody’ of their dog Maggie in 2009.

But despite being separated for six months, they soon got back together and Murray made the big decision, admitting: “I work better in a relationship. At the end of the day, I just can’t do that, especially if I’ve lost a match.” “It’s like talking about tennis, so it’s nice to have someone to talk to about other things.”

They are now parents to four children: Sophia, 8, Edie, 6, Teddy, 4, and Lola, 3, and Kim has often been seen supporting her husband throughout his tennis career and off the court. Kim, who owns the five-star Cromlix House Hotel, their wedding venue since 2013, is also a talented artist and had a website called Brushes and Paws where she would share her portraits of animals and flowers.

Murray has often expressed his gratitude to his wife for her support, telling the New York Times: “He doesn’t like being in the papers, he doesn’t like people commenting on what he wears, how he looks, that kind of thing. I think it’s one of the things he sacrificed a little bit for our relationship.” and I appreciate that very much.

“You meet new people all the time in these big cities, and it would be easy to turn your head,” he added. “But Kim has always been there for me. She really cares about me and helps me with a lot of things. She always has. That’s why we have a great relationship.”

But Kim went a little overboard with her passionate support for her husband in 2015. During Murray’s semi-final victory over Tomas Berdych at Wimbledon, the camera panned towards him in the stands and he said on live TV: “F****” ** I want you to show the f***.”

Murray defended him after the game: “When there’s a lot of tension around something, [the media] was created [by referring to the fact his former assistant coach Dani Vallverdu then coached Berdych]then this is completely normal.

“Everyone was tense the whole first set. My physical trainer, my physiotherapist, I’m sure it must have been uncomfortable for Dani. Even Tomas, who rarely said anything on the court, there was tension there too. Yes, in the heat of the moment you can say things you regret. And yes, that was it.” “

But the pair were later able to laugh it off when Kim appeared at the men’s final wearing a T-shirt that read ‘Parental Advisory: Explicit Content’. Meanwhile, after he was knighted at the Queen’s New Year’s Honors the following year, Murray joked that his wife would have to watch her tongue when she became a Lady, laughing: “She’ll have to do that.” [do] For any of you who saw this a few years ago, no more swearing during my matches.”
