While Corrie fans are hoping for Liam’s ordeal to end soon, the sad news is that there’s still some time left for his story to continue.

Series producer Iain MacLeod confirmed in a recent interview that the Mason and Liam storyline will continue until 2024.

This reflects how real-life bullying incidents can span over long periods of time.

talk with Digital Spy and other media outlets In October, MacLeod commented: “I have read some scenes that go much deeper into the story, so they will be released next February or March.

“It’s absolutely heartbreaking in terms of the reaction of kids being bullied and the sense of helplessness parents feel, because they know what’s going on but they can’t get past this wall of secrecy around it because victims don’t want to talk.

“This pushes Gary and Maria’s characters to some pretty extreme extremes in terms of their emotional response to what they believe is going on. It’s extremely sad.”

Luca Toolan, who plays Mason, spoke exclusively recently Digital Spy About the future of the story.

The young actor told us: “Corrie has said that the series will probably run for at least a few more months. It’s really nice, because it gives the three of us some time to get used to the characters and grow as actors.”

“We will see a different side to the characters involved. The longer the story, the better, because it means you’ll have more to play with.”

The good news is that Corrie bosses have promised Liam a happy long-term ending.

“We want this to also send positive messages,” MacLeod said recently, “so the outcomes for people who are the worst off will be good, and when they seek help, they’ll get it, and then they’ll be on a positive trajectory going forward.”

“But before that, there’s an in-depth look at youth mental health and bullying. If we get this as right as it sounds, I’m really proud of that.”

Coronation Street kicked off its bullying storyline in October, when Mason befriended Dylan and a reluctant Liam.

Mason caused trouble from the start as he forced Dylan and Liam to try some e-cigarettes, which caused Liam to have an asthma attack. While Mason was a runner, Dylan made sure Liam got the help he needed at the hospital.

When news of the incident spread, Liam’s stepfather Gary became concerned. It is revealed that Mason is part of the Radcliffes, a notorious family known as dangerous figures in the local community.

Following in his family’s footsteps, Mason revealed to Liam and Dylan that he was responsible for the hit-and-run that injured Stu Carpenter’s granddaughter, Eliza Woodrow.

Mason shared the truth while looking for a false alibi in case the police got suspicious.

A few weeks later, Mason’s obsession with e-cigarettes continued, forcing Dylan to sell them under his name to other kids at school.

When Dylan’s father Sean found out, he disposed of the e-cigarettes to punish his son. Mason was outraged at the lost items and demanded compensation by confiscating Dylan’s expensive new sneakers. When the school investigated the incident, Liam found himself accused of stolen shoes.

Recently, Mason threatened Liam with a knife after his attempt to frame the defenseless schoolboy didn’t go as well as he hoped.

Dylan witnessed this terrifying encounter but was too scared to step in and defend his friend. He also agreed to start selling electronic cigarettes in a new location for Mason, after finding a job at the kebab shop regularly visited by school children.

Speaking recently about his role in the story, Liam McCheyne, who plays Dylan, explained: “I guess my whole description of Dylan is that he just wants to fit in. He wants to make friends no matter what, probably because of their previous encounters in London.”

“He wants to fit in with the cool kids and be like them. He doesn’t want to be like in London; it’s a complete transformation of who he was before. It’s almost like a fresh start for him, and he can achieve that.” a little bit of freedom so I think you can influence him very easily.

“I think Sean is aware of how dangerous Mason’s influence is but Dylan pretty much ignores him. Mason isn’t a real friend of Dylan’s, but as I said, he’s very easily influenced, so I don’t think he realizes what he’s getting into for himself.”

Coronation Street It airs on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
