Sir Elton John completed a clean sweep of awards on Monday night, adding an Emmy to his Grammy, Oscar and Tony gongs in a spectacular night for British entertainers at the prestigious US television awards.
Succession took the night’s top awards for best drama, leading actor and leading actor, while Britain’s Matthew Macfadyen and writer Jesse Armstrong won best supporting actor and outstanding writer in a drama series, respectively.
“This is a show about family,” Armstrong said, “but it’s also about the intertwining of partisan reporting with divisive right-wing politics, and after four seasons of satire, it’s a problem that I understand we’ve now resolved.”
