Enzo Mari

Italian modernist designer Enzo Mari’s first solo exhibition in the UK is on until 8 September at the Design Museum.

Born in Novara, Italy, in the 30s, Mari’s communist upbringing played a key role in his design philosophy of creating sustainable works of art, ranging from paintings to furniture to text. The exhibition examines the artist’s extensive work, consisting of nearly 2,000 objects.

Portraits and dresses come face to face in Tate Britain’s “Sargent and Fashion” exhibition. The exhibition dives into the artist’s subjects through items they wore in their seating, from the striking cotton, silk and lace insect-wing sheath of “Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth” to the sumptuous red silk velvet gown worn by Louise Pomeroy Inches. .

More than 10 rooms at Blenheim Palace are devoted to British fashion, including Stella McCartney, Stephen Jones Haberdashery for Christian Dior, Zandra Rhodes, Bruce Oldfield, Vivienne Westwood and Turnbull & Asser, a favorite of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The brand made the prime minister a siren outfit that became part of his uniform.

Playwright and screenwriter Sarah Gordon’s new play, “Underdog: The Other Other Brontë,” examines the brotherhood and resentment between the Brontës, the famous literary family of the 19th century. Anne, the clan’s youngest sister and lesser known, died at the age of 29. Meanwhile, her other two sisters, Charlotte and Emily, tried to achieve success.

Hackney-based concept store LN-CC, known for pioneering experiential retail in the early 2010s, has unveiled its new identity, which aims to elevate its physical presence with a touch of luxury, under the umbrella of existing Italian owner The Level Group. This marks the first time the retailer has opened its doors to the public since the pandemic.

The main retail space is divided into multiple rooms highlighting various aspects of the services LN-CC offers. For example, Atrium is home to the store’s best-performing brands, including Miu Miu, Kiko Kostadinov, Y/Project and Diesel.
