Horrific knife attack shuts Barnes station as M25 crash causes 20-mile queue

Police raided Barnes station in south-west London this morning, leaving a man fighting for his life in a bloody knife attack.

The station was closed after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Passengers were forced to take buses to find alternative routes as no trains stopped as police rushed to the scene.

South Western Railway updated shortly after noon that trains were now running normally.

The M25 in Essex was closed anticlockwise between J28 and J27 near Brentwood after a crash between a lorry and a van. Two people were taken to hospital after the crash, which caused a massive queue 20 miles long, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix.

Serious delays on District Line

The District Line is experiencing serious delays between Tower Hill and Wimbledon due to a Network Rail signal fault in East Putney.

Passengers are advised that their tickets will be accepted on London Buses and South Western Railway services. The rest of the District Line provides a good service.

Three trucks and a minibus involved in M25 crash

Two people have been taken to hospital after a major crash involving three lorries and a minibus on the M25 caused serious disruption.

Police said his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.

Stabbing at Barnes station: Ambulance crews arrive at scene in 60 seconds

London Ambulance Service said a man in his 20s who was stabbed at Barnes station has been taken to a major trauma centre.

The spokesman added: “We were called to a report of a stabbing which occurred on Station Road in Barnes at 7.07am this morning (Thursday, September 26).

“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, an incident response officer and London’s Air Ambulance.

“Our first teams arrived within a minute.

“Our teams treated a man at the scene and then transported him primarily by road to a major trauma centre in London.”

Passenger transport disruption between Dartford and London Bridge

Passengers were faced with major disruption this morning after the line between Dartford and London Bridge was blocked due to a signalling fault.

Train services to the capital could be cancelled, revised or diverted via Bexleyheath, causing headaches for thousands of passengers.

Network Rail said the disruption was expected to last until at least 11am and warned passengers to check their routes before setting off.

Two people taken to hospital following M25 crash

Two people were taken to hospital following a serious collision near junction 28 of the M25 in the early hours of this morning.

East of England Ambulance Service launched a large-scale response, including an air ambulance and a danger area team, following the crash, which occurred at 05.56am.

One patient was taken to Queens Hospital, while the other was taken to the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine.

Police say ‘There is absolutely no place for violence on the rail network’

Police have strongly condemned the knife attack which took place at Barnes station in south-west London this morning.

Police Commissioner Sam Blackburn said: “There is absolutely no place for violence on the rail network and detectives are working rapidly to investigate the incident.”

The station remains closed during the police investigation. Increased patrols are being deployed across the network.

Blackburn added: “The public will see increased high visibility patrols to provide reassurance in the area and across the network.”

M25 closed after truck crash near Brentwood

The M25 in Essex was closed anticlockwise between J28 and J27 near Brentwood following a crash between a lorry and a van.

Emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene.

Severe delays are being reported from J28 A12 (Brentwood/Brook Street Junction) to J27 M11.

Congestion may also be expected at J30 A13 Lakeside and on the way back along the A12 and A127.

One lane on J28, which had been closed since 6.50am, has reopened clockwise, but severe delays continue towards J27.

Police say stabbing victim is in life-threatening condition

Police have confirmed that a man has been taken to hospital with “life-threatening” injuries following a stabbing at Barnes station.

A British Transport Police spokesman told the Standard: “Officers were called to Barnes train station at around 7.10am today (September 26) to reports of a serious assault.

“Paramedics also attended the scene and one person was taken to hospital with injuries consistent with a stabbing and is thought to be in a life-threatening condition.

“An investigation into the incident is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by sending a message to 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference number 89 dated 26 September.”

London’s largest centres, King’s Cross and Waterloo, have experienced a ‘cybersecurity incident’

The Wi-Fi networks of 10 of London’s largest train stations have been hacked in a “cybersecurity incident”.

Police have launched an investigation following an attack on internet services at 19 stations run by Network Rail across the UK.

10 stations in London were affected by the attack.

These are: Euston, Victoria, King’s Cross, London Bridge, Cannon Street, Charing Cross, Liverpool Street, Paddington, Clapham Junction and Waterloo.
