I’m obsessed with Finery’s summer dresses, these are my most complimented dresses

By | June 12, 2024

Finery London is currently my favorite brand of all time. In fact, whenever I wear one of their dresses, I always get compliments.

If you’re not familiar with Finery, they’re a British womenswear fashion brand that launched in 2015 and has grown massively in popularity since then. It’s now stocked in Marks & Spencer, Tu Clothing and QVC, as well as on its own website.

Although Finery sells a variety of clothing, including denim, knitwear and overalls, it is best known for its dresses; Think bold prints, flattering silhouettes and luxe-looking details.

Specializing in super affordable contemporary designs without compromising on quality or style, Finery’s mission is to “provide the modern woman with high-quality, sophisticated designs and timeless styles that will make her look and feel great,” and they certainly deliver.

Because of their super budget-friendly prices, I was expecting something to be wrong when I first started buying from the brand; Maybe the material is starched or the clothes don’t fit me. But none of this could be further from the truth.

Finery’s 2024 summer dress collection is a perfect example of quality designs at an affordable price, each dress exceeded my expectations so much that it was impossible for me to choose a favourite. I finally found seven.

Finery’s sizes range from 8 to 24, and as a size 10 myself, I was impressed with how well the clothes fit. To give you an idea of the length of dresses, they usually range from 125cm to 128cm and I’m 5ft 3.

Finally, I need to mention the prices; You don’t need to have deep pockets to buy these dresses, most dresses cost under £60. I have a few luxury dresses from Me+Em and Karen Millen that cost almost three times as much, and Finery has the same, if not more, expensive feel to them.

While the dresses I’ve highlighted below are all from Finery’s new summer 2024 collection, if you’re after a bargain, Finery currently has a summer sale of up to 70% off, with dresses starting from just £8.70.

This minimum made me feel like a million dollars. (Yahoo Life UK)

£49 at Finery

This dress made me feel like a million dollars and at £49 it’s definitely a bargain! Made from ponte jersey fabric, it reminds me of a similar one I bought from Ted Baker that was probably three times the price. Wearing the right underwear with this dress is important, not only because of the color but also because of the perfect fit. I was wearing a skin-colored dress underneath and the dress fit like a glove.

I love the bust dart on this dress; A fabric technique that gives a three-dimensional look to a dress by folding the fabric and sewing it to a point. It creates a flashy and flowing effect by ensuring that the V-neck fits towards the chest area. I found it really accentuated my waist and as the skirt goes over the thighs it gives a simple, flared and flattering look.

The short, puffy sleeves are adorable and completely hide my upper arms, which I’m always aware of as I develop those dreaded bingo wings as I get older. I received many compliments when I wore this dress three times, to a family reunion, work drinks, and a black tie party (paired with gold heels and jewelry). Plus, as a bonus, you can throw it in the washing machine at 30 degrees and it will remove wine stains!

This is Finery’s best-selling product and I can see why. (Yahoo Life UK)

£49 at Finery Shop from M&S

I’m not surprised that this is one of Finery’s bestsellers, as it’s also my favorite in the collection. Priced at £49, this dress is a must-have in your summer wardrobe; But be quick because I can see some sizes are out of stock.

It actually comes out a little on the large side, so I think you can reduce that number. I found that the neckline showed a bit of cleavage and it opened up a bit when I bent over. So if you are a woman with large breasts, you may not like this dress. I’m a size 34C and needed to swap out my original bra for a tighter one to make sure the V-neck cut of the dress didn’t reveal too much skin.

The ric rac detail on the collar is very trendy and gives the dress an expensive look. I felt like it flowed beautifully as I walked, the material is super lightweight making it perfect for warmer weather. All in all, I think this dress is perfect for summer and extremely versatile; Pair it with flip-flops for your holiday or with white heeled ankle boots for a special occasion.

I felt so confident when I wore this super beautiful floral dress. (Yahoo Life UK)

£59 at Finery

This dress is made of crepe material, which is super lightweight and drapes beautifully, so it feels very nice to wear. I love the gathered bodice, which gives it a nice, feminine look, and for practicality when the weather is hot, the gathered top keeps the fabric from showing sweaty stains.

I’m usually not a big fan of sweetheart necklines because I feel like they make me look bustier than I am, but I loved this dress. I also avoid elastic cuffs in the summer because I don’t like the fabric cutting into my skin. However, the sleeves of this crop top were very comfortable and not tight at all.

The deep sage green tone and the all-over daisy print are reminiscent of summer. While it’s definitely smart enough to wear for a summer BBQ party or work, I found it perfect for weekend walks paired with sandals.

Overall, I felt very confident wearing this super pretty floral dress, thanks to the gathered bodice and flowy skirt that accentuated my waist.

The ruffle detail on the sleeve cuff harmonizes with the high collar and makes it look much more expensive than it is. (Yahoo Life UK)

Black may not be the first color that comes to your mind when it comes to summer clothes, but the delicate blouse sleeves and airy fabric of this dress make the cut perfect.

I loved the dot detail running through the dress, which was made from georgette, a lightweight, translucent fabric. The ruffle detail on the sleeve cuffs harmonizes with the high collar and makes it look much more expensive than it is.

Again, this dress has a gathered bodice that gathers at the waist and goes down to the layered skirt. This design feature makes the dress stand out and I felt like it was chic enough to wear to my summer work party. The invisible side zipper and neck button gave it a modern look. I wore it with black slippers, but I think a pair of chunky white sneakers would also look really great.

This is an extremely wearable summer dress. (Yahoo Life UK)

black £49 at Finery Shop

The linen dress is always a summerwear staple, and the reason I chose this electric blue number over the classic black option is because I love this rich sky blue hue. It suits my slightly bronzed skin and always makes my blue eyes pop.

This is an extremely wearable summer dress. I wore it tons around the house on days when I didn’t know what to wear, and I also wore it with a pair of flip-flops to a friend’s tea party.

The empire-line bust gives the dress a high-waisted look, leading to a flowing skirt. With ever-changing weather conditions in the UK, this light and breezy dress is perfect for this time of year. Moreover, it will be suitable for your summer holiday; surprisingly, since it’s linen, it’s almost wrinkle-free.

If I were to fault this dress, I’d say it’s the least flattering of the seven, as it’s a little less form-fitting than the others. The gathered waist panel breaks up the fabric nicely, and I like how the V-neck is low enough to feel airy against the skin, but high enough that it doesn’t show off a lot of cleavage.

This dress lives up to expectations as a timeless piece that can be worn again and again. (Yahoo Life UK)

£79 at Finery Shop from M&S

This dress is beautiful, from its bold pattern to its cut, ruffles, and feel. I love everything about it except one thing: It’s made of 100% polyester, the most commonly used synthetic fabric. Polyester has a variety of negative environmental impacts, including non-biodegradability, and generally Finery’s references are much more sustainable.

In all other respects, this dress lives up to expectations as a timeless piece that can be worn again and again. It wasn’t clingy at all and I wore the dress to a garden party where it was quite warm and the fabric didn’t stick to my skin. In fact, the place was full of rose bushes, so I blended in nicely.

The sleeve cuffs and waist are gathered, which helped accentuate my figure in all the right places. I wore it as a casual dress with white sneakers, but it could easily be dressed up with heels for a summer wedding or special occasion.

The dress has a romantic feel to it, it would definitely make a great date night dress! (Yahoo Life UK)

£59 at Finery Shop from M&S

A classic summer look, this white floral dress uses the broderie anglaise pattern, defined by tiny little holes cut from the fabric. The scoop neckline of this dress has the same ruffles as the layers of the skirt, and the cute floral print on the embroidered fabric is gorgeous. When I wore it, it reminded me of the Laura Ashley wallpaper pattern in my living room.

This dress is quite heavy compared to others. Even though it was 100% cotton, it felt quite warm, but that probably has to do with the amount of fabric used and the high neckline.

The cut is extremely flattering; The empire seam waist helps elongate my figure, while the tiered skirt creates a loose, elegant look. What I love most about this dress is the cap sleeves. They covered my bingo wings and the tiny fabric holes of the broderie anglaise pattern meant they were breathable. The dress has a romantic feel to it, it would definitely make a great date night dress!
