Sofia Richie Grainge talks about her beauty evolutionSofia Richie Grainge for SkinCeuticals

Symbol of the spirit of tailoring, Sofia Richie Grainge’s profile has mushroomed over the last 12 months; many resonated with her “quiet luxury” look and “clean” off-duty aesthetic, as well as the appeal of the contemporary bridal gown she wore for her wedding to Elliott Grainge. . This year, the world and wardrobe look a little different for the model and entrepreneur as she prepares to have a child with her music producer husband. As any mother knows, hormones create obstacles. “There are many things that come with pregnancy,” she tells us about the changes she experienced. “Of course it was very intense.”

First, her acne and rosacea returned; “it’s like I’m in high school” but the skincare enthusiast trusted her dermatologist, Dr Mamina Turegano, to determine the best strategy for her. “My number one priority in my beauty routine right now is trying to have the healthiest skin possible. And whether it’s skincare or makeup, I make sure I have the right products to achieve it,” she says. Richie Grainge, who has become a trusted voice for a new generation of skincare-savvy audiences, was today announced as SkinCeuticals’ new global brand partner, reflecting its science-backed approach to skincare. On your beauty journey…

“I feel like everyone from their teens to their mid-20s is going through a pretty big beauty evolution. You know, finding their lane and what they’re comfortable with. I’ve tried everything from heavy makeup looks to where I am today; It’s important to experiment to find what makes you comfortable in your own skin. So yeah, it took me a lot of experimentation in my day to really feel confident in the beauty routine I do now.

About her teenage skin’s struggles returning during pregnancy…

“I really suffered from acne and rosacea during my teenage years, and when I found out I was pregnant it came back like it did during my high school years. I really wasn’t expecting this; There are a lot of things that come with pregnancy and this wasn’t something I took into account. “It was definitely intense.”

About current beauty priorities…

“I definitely had to come back. My number one priority in my current beauty routine is trying to have the healthiest skin possible. And whether it’s skincare or makeup, I make sure I have the right products to achieve it.

“I stick to a very strict regime. My dermatologist gave me SkinCeuticals’ Simply Clean Cleanser, which is really good at effectively removing oil and makeup. I started overproducing oil during pregnancy and this cleanser really helped me tame and control my oil production. Everything is so tight and sensitive right now that I use a light moisturizer at night because I don’t want to clog my pores.

“In the morning, I’ll use SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF 50. When I found out I was pregnant, my doctor said, “Don’t lie in the sun because you have to be careful against hyperpigmentation.” There are so many things you need to consider!”

The laser device that changes your skin…

“I discovered a tool called the Lyma laser that dramatically transformed my skin. My makeup artist, Emily Cheng, suggested this when I was in dire need during my first trimester when my hormones were going crazy. I use it every night before going to bed. I have no affiliation with the brand but it truly changed my life; It has been a game changer in controlling acne and redness.

“Usually before I got pregnant, I would do a treatment once a month called Laser Genesis, which really helps kill bacteria on the skin and really helped me clear up acne. Now Lyma is the only laser I can do on my own, and it’s not harmful during pregnancy.”

In her signature beauty look…

“I try to choose clean skin if possible, and what I mean by this is that the foundation is not too heavy. I love a contoured, bronzed look with a simple bronze eye.

“I’m really into blush at the moment and I love Chanel’s powder blush in a very bright pink. I still use the Nudestix contour stick – it’s undeniably good. And Prada foundation is really beautiful. I don’t usually use foundation, but since my skin is cracked and I have to cover more of it, I use this because the finish is still similar to the skin but provides some coverage.

“I always have to keep an eyebrow gel with me wherever I go. I use Anastasia, which is like a mascara. And now I always carry blotting papers with me; I prefer this to using powder all the time on my face.

“I dye my hair, so I try to do as many masks and oil treatments as possible when I’m not at work. This kind of connects with my slippery bun; I make it all seem somehow intentional, but actually I’m just a greasy mess!

On what inspires their beauty tastes…

“I really connect with the European style and especially France; This kind of effortless ‘less is more’ approach. I love Pinterest and follow lovely influencers and learn about things that I feel connect with me. But my husband also inspired me a lot, which is interesting. When we started dating, she would say ‘you are so beautiful, you don’t need to do so much, you don’t need to wear so much make-up’ and I think that increased my self-confidence in that way. So I guess I’m really trying to embrace myself.”

About educational posts on TikTok…

“I started TikTok so I could connect with people and learn from people. I’ve learned so many beauty tricks just by watching TikToks. Also, for the first five months of my pregnancy, very few of my friends knew, so it was great to post ’11 weeks pregnant’ and see others talking about their symptoms. That’s why I use these platforms; to have a relationship with someone.

“If one day I feel judgment coming, I won’t do it. I want to have fun on social media; I’m trying to be myself; I’m being honest. So if I feel like it bothers me, I won’t do it.”

When you feel most beautiful…

“I feel beautiful when I’m exposed to a lot of sunlight; I spend time in the ocean and get vitamin D from the sun.

“But also when I stick to a routine that makes me feel good, which includes movement, food and hydration, as well as skin care and hair care. You know beauty really starts with taking care of yourself. This is definitely something I will pass on to my daughter.
