Waterloo-Clapham Junction lines reopen but face delays due to rush hour traffic

Rail lines between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo have reopened after a man died on the tracks on Wednesday morning, but services are expected to be delayed during the evening rush hour.

British Transport Police received a report of an injured person on the tracks near Clapham Junction station shortly after 7.30am on Wednesday. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

South Western Railway said they received an emergency call from a train between stations and all trains in the area were stopped.

National Rail said all lines have now reopened but trains may still be canceled or delayed by up to 45 minutes. The outage is expected to last until 19:00.

Meanwhile, passengers on the subway faced further strike interruptions, with Aslef announcing two one-day strikes on Monday, April 8 and Saturday, May 4.

Aslef also announced that train drivers at 16 railway companies would embark on a new wave of strikes and a six-day overtime ban over the long-running wage dispute, threatening further travel chaos for passengers across the country.

Disruption between Clapham Junction and Waterloo is expected until 19:00

National Rail said disruption to lines between Clapham Junction and Waterloo is now expected to last until 7pm.

This is three hours later than his previous given time of 16:00.

National Rail said trains running between stations could be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 45 minutes.

This follows a death on the tracks earlier today.

Services between St Pancras and Blackfriars are expected to be disrupted until 6pm

National Rail says a signal fault means trains must run at reduced speed between London Blackfriars and St Pancras International.

It was warned that trains may be delayed up to 10 minutes.

Disruption is expected until 18:00.

Northbound services to St Albans, Luton, Bedford, Stevenage, Peterborough and Cambridge are affected.

Clapham Junction to Waterloo lines reopen but delays remain

National Rail said all lines between Clapham Junction and Waterloo had reopened following this morning’s death, but trains could still be canceled or delayed by up to 45 minutes.

The outage is expected to last until 16:00.

Minor delays on the Victoria Line

Transport for London said there was a good service on the rest of the London Underground network.

Train drivers at 16 rail companies will stage a new wave of strikes over a long-running wage dispute, threatening further travel chaos for passengers across the country.

Aslef members will implement a one-day strike and a six-day overtime ban from April 5-8.

The union said it wanted to increase pressure on “intransigent” train companies and a “tone deaf” government after a series of strikes stretching back 20 months.

Aslef said that the salaries of train drivers have not been increased for five years, since April 2019.

Man dies in crash on M26

A man has died in a collision on the M26 near Sevenoaks.

Kent Police said a blue BMW 1 Series and a white VW Caddy were involved in the incident, which took place between the M25 and Wrotham Heath junctions shortly after 11pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services attended the scene and the driver of the VW, aged in his thirties, was confirmed dead at the scene.

His relatives were informed.

The other driver was slightly injured.

British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed there was an injury on the tracks near Clapham Junction station.

Police said they received a report of the incident shortly after 7.30am on Wednesday.

Medical teams and fire brigades also arrived at the scene, but unfortunately it was determined that one person died at the scene.

BTP said the incident was not thought to be suspicious and a file would be prepared for the coroner.

Trains stopped on the Northern Line due to fire alarm
